In a surprising upset, underdog Washington Nationals beat the Houston Astros to win the world series!
The Astros were favored to win the 2019 Word Series but the Nationals took it home in game 7.
It was the first win for Washington since 1924 and the first win for the Nationals ever!
The Nationals, once the Montreal Expos, were purchased by MLB in 2002. The moved to Washington, D.C. and were named the Nationals at the start of the 2005 season.
This is a huge win for the quirky underdogs! The series itself was remarkable in that the home team advantage played NO part! This was the first time in MLB history that a road team won every game. How unusual is it that NO team won at home? It's never happened before in MLB, OR the NHL OR the NBA!
