When the pandemic arrived, the world came to a screeching halt. Across the globe, people shifted to work from home and businesses scrambled to adapt their policies and practices.

It was okay – it was just temporary!

It turns out that is not quite the case. What was believed to be temporary is now in month 8 with no end in sight. While some companies are gradually bringing employees back into the office many are not.

Some larger companies have committed to working from home through the end of the year, while some companies, like RBC Wealth Management, are gradually bringing a small percentage of the workforce back into offices.

The Right Tools

For asset managers who relied on “face time” and in-person interactions, things are quite different now. Perhaps you’ve embraced Zoom or other video conference software or perhaps you’ve started picking up the phone more.

Now more than ever it’s important to have the right tool for the job. Do your outreach efforts align with the current environment?

Emails. With many advisors working from home and often at unusual hours emails can be a great tool to get your message in front of your target audience in a manner they can digest when it’s convenient for them.

Website. Is your website up to date? Easy to navigate? Your website is your first impression – make it a good one! Advisors might visit your site looking to gather information – make sure it is updated and easy to find.

Social media. More and more advisors are turning to social media. If you’re not already using social media, consider jumping in! After consulting with your compliance officer, determine how you can take advantage. Social media platforms can be another avenue to push out content while offering another way to connect with your target audience, often on a more personal level.

Content. Audit your content library. If possible, update any older pieces to make them relevant. Consider creating new pieces targeted to the current market and industry. Link the fresh content to your website and push it out using email and social media.

Meet them where they are

The world is a strange place these days. Advisors might be working from the office, but they might be working from their basement, or even their dining room table surrounded by other family working or schooling from home.

Nothing is the same these days – so make sure your social media and outreach efforts are up to the task. Not sure how to adjust? We’re here to help!
