Mutual funds had been trailing ETFs for some time, but are the tides turning?
Since January 2017 mutual funds have seen positive net flows each month. In May, mutual funds outpaced ETFs for the first time in over a year.
Analysts believe the change is being driven by increased investor demand for fixed income, but caution the trend may not last. Growth potential in the ETF space may lead to increased ETF investments and decreasing mutual fund investments.
